The ACOA will build committees at each site. The committee will consist of one representative from the following:

  • Correction Officers
  • Maintenance Staff
  • Medical Staff
  • Administrative Staff
  • Retirees

These individuals will serve for 12 months and rotate out unless they are the only one in their respective role.

The function of the committee is to be the voice for their peers and provide communication for matters of compliance, safety, resources, supplies, rehabilitation, training, management, security, compensation, policies and procedures, budget, facilities, and improvements.

The ACOA has state government and legislative experience with the Joint Prison Committee specifically under former Governor Riley. Teamed with strong management experience in the areas of construction, design, safety, compliance, negotiations, resource and procurement management, contract negotiations, project management and business controls auditing, business administration and office management this organization has the proper skill sets to provide true representation.

The path to successful results is to work with legislators to include both sides of prison reform for rehabilitation and confined management. This association’s founder has no affiliation with the ADOC except his son (a corrections officer) and has proven to be an advocate for the duly sworn officers and staff that have the daily task of managing the state prison inmates.

Proper corrections officers and staff resources are equally important to ensure required manning of a site that is commensurate to the population and categorized type of site.

Proper and timely maintenance are pivotal to eliminate mixture of inmates incarcerated and sentenced for violent and non-violent crimes as well as subjecting some to exposure of intimidation and violence.
The safety, control and segregation of inmates is of equal importance to sustain an environment conducive to routine overcrowding and overflow.

Performance audits of each site to evaluate management of resources, supplies and maintenance to provide routine (monthly) metrics scorecard are also play an integral role in this process.
